In 1989, Saladexpress inc., a vegetable processing company, began to see the light of day in Saint-Rémi, Montérégie, in the heart of a vegetable heaven.
In 1995, Mr. Leslie Jonas acquires and revitalizes the company, giving it a new direction based on a promise combining simplicity, freshness and nature, with a focus on the markets’ needs: retail businesses, hotels, restaurants, institutions and industries. Now associated with the pleasures of cooking and healthy eating, the brand symbolizes cheerfulness and authenticity. Strategic technology investments are also made to optimize the quality control and the efficiency regarding the transformation process.
A wind of freshness then brings the world of ready-to-use vegetables to a new high.
Saladexpress becomes the assistant cook that all had been waiting for. A healthy and fast cooking that comes with no hassle is trendy, and the company offers a variety of healthy foods requested by more and more businesses and consumers. In fact, its growth is staggering. In 2006, it begins to produce continuously and in 2007, a renovation of its offices and much of its facility is needed.
Then, in 2008, Saladexpress makes an acquisition: Nutriplus, Quebec leader in the market of bagged spinach for 20 years. Proving once again its adaptive capacity, Saladexpress remodels its facilities not only to accommodate Nutriplus’s equipment, but also its team. In addition to diversify its offer and increase its workforce, Saladexpress expands its market share.
Also that year, Saladexpress is certified HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points). HACCP is a food safety management system globally recognized and meeting the highest standards of food safety assurance.
In 2010, Saladexpress crosses another milestone when the Fonds de solidarité FTQ acquires the shares of Mr. Jonas and becomes the major shareholder. Mario Latendresse is appointed President and CEO.
It is then natural that Saladexpress is a finalist in the category "Increased productivity - SME’s " at the 2010 Mercuriades competition, organized by the Fédération des chambres de commerce du Québec to celebrate entrepreneurial success.
Quebec leader in the transformation of pre-sliced salads and vegetables, Saladexpress continues its momentum in an evolving sphere of activity. Active in its home province, in Ontario and the Maritimes, it is constantly listening to its customers to make their lives easier. Saladexpress is also alert to market trends and never hesitates to take advantage of technological advances that will enable it to offer innovative products of superior quality to new customers.
We are now accredited FSSC 22000 since November 2011.
